Blogging goals: November 2014
So, last month I talked about my blogging goals, how to make goals SMART, and now it is time to see how well I fared, did I achieve what I set out to achieve and what goals I will make for next month.
My October 2014 blogging goals:
(Strikethrough the goals that have been met, and a bit of a tally in italics)
2) Have +250 Twitter followers. (1st Nov: Have about 200+ Twitter followers, to be honest, I think it feels a bit contrived to try to increase your followers, so won't be doing this again)
3) Do pages for my blog (About me, Subscribe, Linkies and blogs I love, and My best posts). (1st Nov: I finally did the about me and subscribe pages, and a few, but not all, of my favourite posts on one dedicated page)
4) Write two features (or whatever you call them) to blog series - I love the Beginning of Us at RedHead BabyLed and Share Your Wedding at You Baby Me Mummy.
So, overall, I don't think I did too bad, but in hindsight I overreached. The past month I ended up taking some extra responsibility at work, as the person who I was supposed to help manage a project left and I (eek!) ended up managing the project myself and being the go-to person for some of her old responsibilities. Great opportunity, but also been quite challenging and lots of learning involved. I also became a chair of a governing body committee at a school, which also is a great opportunity to learn some professional skills. So been pretty busy in terms of actual real work and there has been less time for play (e.g. to blog).
My November 2014 blogging goals:
1) Attend Blogfest and learn loads! (Btw, you get 15% off with bloggerfest code if you are looking to come)
2) Increase the amount of unique visitors to 800.
3) Improve the "look" of the blog - font, the annoying lines around the pages links, and I am sure there is something else I could improve.
4) Learn to use Pinterest (I recently got an account and it looks like so much fun! And handy way of keeping good ideas in one place).
5. Write about breasfeeding and finally link to The Breastfeeding Diary.
6. Get little icons for the social media links - text links look a bit bland don't they?
7. Write my first ever review (Easy Indian Supermeals cookbook for babies and toddlers - it is great by the way).
Do you have any blogging goals for November? Attending Blogfest? (If so please come and say hi to me! I don't know anyone going...).
And the pictures, they aren't really related to the content of the most in any way whatsoever, but I thought these little behind the scenes pictures from Halloween outfit photoshoot were just too cute to leave out... :)

Typo in the text btw, the code is Bloggerstandard
ReplyDeleteI'm going tomorrow! *waves*
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great time! I sure did :)
DeleteOh welcome to the blogging world. Fantisic goals to have. I totally go through ebbs and flows of being organised and being too busy with life. Enjoy blogfest - FYI I am a pinterst addict - you can follow me @tinkypen.
ReplyDeleteThank you - a great world to join :) The parenting blogging world seems very supportive and friendly :) But yeah, real life can get in the way :D I'll check you out on pinterest!
DeleteHello! Mummy and I try to write a review of my blog monthly, to see how our numbers have (hopefully) increased! It is great to look back on! Good Luck! #TheList
ReplyDeleteHiya! I think I saw your post about those monthly stats, they were interesting :) It is nice to see numbers improve, means you are doing something right (and lets face it, no one wants to write just for themselves, otherwise they wouldn't have a blog!) :)
DeleteI would really want to attend blogfest but I am too shy and money is a bit tight. I am looking forward to reading poeple's blog about it and learn from it. This month I just want to have more food post. =) #pocolo
ReplyDeleteYeah I can't say the tickets were exactly cheap... I will be writing a post (actually two) so do check back! :)
DeleteGlad to see you've done well with your goals, I'd love to do more with my blog but just don't have the time. I'm off to my first Blogfest tomorrow too so will wave if I see you! #pocolo
ReplyDeleteI know, the time is just zapped away by all the other things - but as one of the panellists said (can't remember who), you just have to make time to write, skip the dishes :) hope you had a good time!
DeleteLove this approach to setting yourself blogging goals.I suppose I do in a way, but don't have time to write it down along with everything else. I love the name of your blog btw and would love to read your post when you write it at the breastfeeding diaries:)
ReplyDeleteFor me it works writing them down, because otherwise I probably wouldn't follow through. I love the linky - I have found it really interesting to read the links, have been just a silent reader I guess, rarely comment :)
DeleteLovely pics :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a good idea to make a list of goals. Helps to keep you motivated! Well done on the achievements! So much to do and learn if you're a new blogger...
Jealous about Blogfest! I didn't get around to booking...
#binkylinky
Ha ha, thanks, just can get better from here I suppose :) It is a bit tricky starting as a new blogger as it can be quite overwhelming. With blogfest, there is always next year! :)
DeleteGreat goals. Well done. I might set myself some. Looking forward to hearing about Blogfest. Thanks for linking up to the #binkylinky
ReplyDeleteI'll be doing two posts I think, one about how it was as a newbie and another one about one of the sessions. will try to remember to link them up with binkylinky again :)
DeleteBrilliant goals. I have been in a bit of a rut recently with my blog, ok with posting but not much else going on, but the lovely Emily at TwinMummy&Daddy has a great facebook group for new bloggers and it has given me the kick up the bum I needed to get going on things on my blog including social media icons. Try googling "POWr Social Media Icons" they aren't the best but were dead easy to include and tweak. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it is the other life (damn it :D) that can get away of blogging. It can be tricky to motivate yourself too, as there isn't any other obvious reward then writing, which is nice, but not always enough. Thanks for the tip - will investigate. I am lucky though to have my own private graphic designer doing these things for me... (husband) so think I'll get him o do it.
DeleteImpressive stuff, both the lists themselves and what you've actually achieved. An inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHah ha, thank you. It can only get better from here :)
DeleteHi, I love your blog! That's why I've nominated your for a Leibster Award :) http://dribblesandgiggles.wordpress.com/2014/11/02/leibster-award-nomination/
ReplyDeleteOh brilliant, thank you, I will check that out and get it done asap :)
DeleteGoals is a brilliant idea! I should do that too, i imagine it gives you a sense of where you want your blog to go and I'm just winging it at the moment!
ReplyDeleteWinging it is perfect :) I do have some goals, but I try not to plan too much, just do what seems fun to do at the time. Because otherwise it can get too much like work and that would be pretty lame wouldn't it!
