A difficult dress dilemma: toddler outfit
Sometimes there are those pieces of clothing you love. But no matter what you do with them they just never seem right.
This little dress is a prime example. I think it is so cute - but I always struggle to accessorize it. It is quite plain, a knitted light brown dress with a hood and a hidden zip at the back. Plain, simple and comfortable. But it is a difficult dress, a difficult one to do anything with.
I've been racking my brains with this one. Cute boots - nah. A ribbon around the waist - nah. Maybe a headband?
This time I teamed it with cute boots and a ribbon around the waist. We were laughing that she looked like a little Jedi master (like the Halloween baby Luke Skywalker outfit we had her in). Not that there isn't anything wrong with that, but it wasn't quite the look I was going for...
Bunny boots: Clarks / Dress: Bonpoint
What do you think of this dress and how would you dress it up?
Such a lovely little dress! I love it's unique style and shape. I totally get what you mean about finding it hard to accessorise it. With us adults we can jazz up a dress of outfit with jewellery but we can't do that with babies!! I think the ribbon looks fab :) I would probably leave it loose personally and have it as a slouchy outfit with leggings and a headband. Thanks so much for linking up your fab outfits again!! Have a great weekend lovey xx #weekendbabystyle
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting! You know what - I think that is exactly what I will do next - cute leggins and maybe a knitted headband with a bow or something - I'll see what I can dig up :) thanks for the tip :)
DeleteThat dress is super cute!! I know what you mean about 'difficult' outfits but I also think the beauty of children is that they can get away with totally crazy clashing colours and patterns haha :) x

That is very true - some of my favourite outfits in her are pretty adventurous and they look great :) we usually do dress her in quite girly and light colours too but it is nice to have variety.
DeleteI think it's lovely!! :) nice to see something other than the usual little frocks! Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you! This isn't a girly girl dress at all what we often dress her in, much more chilled than that :)
DeleteIt's really cute! I think I agree with Sarah - leave it as a slouchy top/dress. It's adorable though. Thanks for linking! x
ReplyDeleteI am sensing a lot of agreement with leaving it slouchy ... I will try that next! Thanks for hosting :)
DeleteI love the dress, would totally agree about leaving it loose, with tights, boots and a headband or cute hat. x #weekendbabystyle
ReplyDeleteYep, I'll try that next - I do love hats as accessories, they are so cute and bring that 'pop' to an outfit easily :) I'll try an dog some cute headwear out :)
DeleteI think she looks great as Jedi Master. #weekendbabystyle
ReplyDeleteHah ha, yeah, my husband agrees :D
DeleteA very lovely dress, myself i'd have probably done exactly the same with the leggings and boots combo. Thank you for sharing #TT_Thursday
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting :) I think I will try some of the styling tips I've gotten here next time, see what it looks like then :)
Deletesomething like the super cool dress from one of my favourite designs, I think it should be warm and earthy all around. I would pair it with some angels boots, some nice wool tights maybe cream colored from MP, probably with a marmar body underneath in a dusty rose.
ReplyDeleteohh and I think this little monkey is beautiful!
Thank you :) Yeah, some cream and dusty rose coloured clothing would go nicely with this dress, maybe even some sort of patterned tights or cable knit tights! Thanks for the ideas, I'll have to try these when I next get this dress out :)
