Toddler OOTD #22 - Like dressed in the dark

I love trying to dress my little daughter in cute outfits - co-ordinated and nice things. Lately it has been really difficult. I've had difficulties dressing her before, but not quite the same way.

We have been battling the effects of a recent trip abroad, the never-ending laundry cycle, a terrible twos emerging, and perhaps mostly, the busyness that comes with trying to buy a house which has made everything else take a back burner. Such as doing the laundry, organising clothes, and colour-coordinating outfits. I guess that is just called prioritisation ;)

For this Easter outfit we literally took the first things we found from the closet. And the ensuing combination looks like, well, exactly that. I found it quite amusing that the outfit is essentially like three different parts from three different outfits - none actually go together. I did want to share it nonetheless because I think the dress is exceptionally cute.

Such is life sometimes I guess - not always perfect, and sometimes you look like you got dressed in the dark.

What do you think of the dress? And do you sometimes struggle with dressing your child nicely?

  1. Your daughter's outfit looks fine to me, we are always mixing up outfits as its usually what Leah wants... wait till you hit that stage!! Thanks for sharing #TT_Thursday

    1. Ha ha, we are not quite there yet, thankfully, but Aili does sometimes insist on a certain hat or shoes. She can be particular about her shoes (a real princess in the making :D ).

I do love the creativity kids have with their clothes though - always unique and fun combinations!

  2. I think she looks amazing!! So cute :) Lottie is now wanting to dress herself, which is highly annoying as she takes forever and chooses awful things to wear! The other day she wanted to go out in a bath costume! Errrrrr no....! Jess x

    1. Hah ha, thanks. :) And oh no, a bath costume! That must have been so funny :D I can imagine it becomes a bit grating though if you can't get them to dress sensibly, ever...

  3. Looks good to me! I have the difficulty of getting my eldest dressed at all - if we go out, the clothes are off as soon as we get through the door. Still, its saves on the washing! x

    1. We went through a phase like that recently as well - it was at the same time highly amusing and highly annoying! And so many nights when she would take off her sleeping bag and clothes, and even nappy, and then cry because she was too cold :( Silly those kids, aren't they!

    1. Thank you :) maybe I am just being a bit too critical, I wasn't too keen on this outfit but certainly it could have been much worse. And anyway, I do think she looks gorgeous in anything (what mother wouldn't) :D

  7. Super cute, as always! Sys's a total diva about clothes. We have our good and bad clothes days. I try to keep on top of the laundry so her "good outfits" are clean, and the "bad outfits" are hidden in drawers out of sight haha!! #TT_Thursday

  9. Aww she's so cute in this dress! It's a lovely colour and really suits her. The boots are fab too. Love Clarks shoes. Functional and pretty! I know what you mean about outfits sometimes. It seems to get harder as they get older. I'm dreading when Isla wants to dress herself haha :) Thanks for linking up with us and hope you have a great weekend xx #weekendbabystyle

    1. Thank you :) I know, Clarks shoes are brilliant! Most of her shoes are from Clarks, they are such nice designs as well. And she does love these shoes, even if she doesn't really dress herself yet, she does tend to pick these shoes if you give her the option.

      Thanks for hosting!

  10. I really like the dress it's so cute! I don't buy lots of clothes for my daughter so try to pick out new items carefully, making sure I can mix and match most things! #weekendbabystyle

    1. That's a really clever way of doing it. We get so much of her clothes as gifts (my mum has gone nuts for baby clothes shopping) so we get lots of individually gorgeous things, but not necessarily a matching selection. But, I am not complaining! :)

    1. Thank you :) Those tights are really cute - and on the bum they say "baby leopard" as well which makes them adorable. Can't see that of course when she wears a dress :)

    1. Thank you :) Yeah, the dress looks cute, sort of dressy but not really dressy. It is a shame we haven't used it that much yet and now it is getting a bit small...
